Paul’s quick-thinking & resilience averts a potential tragedy
Star Award – Paul Cook, Hillstreet – Middlesbrough
Paul dealt with a very difficult, sensitive and volatile situation at the shopping centre by reacting quickly and effectively to support someone in extreme need. Alerted to the emergency by our cleaning team, Paul, with his fellow security officer, attended to try and help an individual, who was already known to the security team. After around half an hour of talking to the distressed man, Paul managed to encourage him to a quieter area. Paul soon identified that the support of the emergency services was needed and he stayed with the man for more than a couple of hours, keeping him calm until help arrived to take the man to hospital.
All of the staff on site were extremely impressed with Paul’s patience and resilience in this very challenging situation.
Our Star Award is made to a team member who BEAMMS by strongly demonstrating our business values. Paul believed he could make a difference to this person and, without his actions, the situation could have had tragic consequences. This is just one example where our security supervisor Paul has set a shining example and has shown great leadership. Well done from AM Services Group.
