Swift acting Colleague of the Month, Paul Williams
Colleague of the Month – Paul Williams, Lanxess Trafford Park
When fire broke out on the Trafford Park industrial estate, our colleague Paul Williams knew straight away that he needed to move quickly to help avert a major incident.
Paul is a member of our security team at the top tier COMAH chemical plan operation Lanxess in Greater Manchester. While carrying out his patrol duties earlier this year, he noticed that smoke was coming from the boiler house and swiftly alerted the shift manager, immediately followed by a call to the fire and rescue services. As a result of his rapid response, the fire brigade was able to attend the scene, and contain and extinguish the fire quickly, avoiding significant damage to property and danger to human life.
Our client gave credit to our security team, commenting that Paul ‘showed outstanding professionalism during a major incident’. He stayed calm and professional throughout the incident, quickly establishing an appropriate and effective communication chain and ensuring that all the relevant people were kept updated throughout the incident. He also supported the safe evacuation of the area.
Well done Paul from our directors for your quick-thinking and commitment to your role and our client.
Mention must also be made of site manager Dave Johnson who attended out-of-hours to provide support for the site and our team.
Other nominations: We also thank Chris Cannon – Boyes, Scarborough, Sam Rhodes, Wythenshawe town centre, Rebecca O’Brien, Business Development and Bernard Heaton – also from Lanxess, Trafford Park. Everyone is a fantastic representative of our company.
