Better together – big mergers, or small partnerships?

With the Competition and Markets Authority considering its concerns over the recent proposed merger by Rentokil Initial and Cannon Hygiene in the supply of washroom waste disposal, with concerns over price rises and reduced market competition, our Waste and Washroom Divisional Manager Nikki Phillips gives her thoughts on the benefits that working with a smaller provider of this service can bring in our Q&A session:

What do you believe sets AM Services Group’s waste and washroom service apart from current three major suppliers?
For me, this is the fact that we don’t treat this service as a one-size-fits-all solution. We work in small teams and get to know our customers. We understand that the washroom goes beyond hygiene and cleanliness, it’s about creating a healthy environment to protect the wellbeing of your staff and to show that you’re a business that cares.
We consider ourselves a partner, rather than a supplier, working with you to provide value for money solutions which meet your responsibilities to your staff and customers, as well as meeting your health and safety requirements and contributing to your commitment to reducing damaging effects on the environment.

We cast an expert eye over your facilities and, depending on the size, nature and footfall of your business, we recommend a frequency of service, or visits of to dispose of waste or replenish supplies.

We are transparent, with no hidden charges, and, when it comes to service enquiries, you don’t need to deal with a large and impersonal call centre.

Is AM Services Group’s waste and washroom service big enough to lead with ideas and innovation?

It certainly is. We’re committed to development and to contributing to raising the industry bar. We’re proud to be members of the Independent Washroom Services Association and have helped several of our clients to win prestigious industry awards. We are also dedicated to working with some of the best and most innovative suppliers to stay ahead of the game in terms of supplying our customers with products across feminine hygiene, flushing and sanitising, urinal care and air care.

We won’t just supply a product on price. We want this to be robust, aesthetically pleasing, to reduce environmental impact and to provide value-for-money.

What would your customers say you do differently?

I think this is best summed up by a couple of our clients themselves:

At the popular Hayes Garden Centre in Cumbria, our customer has been consistently happy with the quality of service and the strong working relationships that has been developed between them and our front-line staff. They say: “Our operative is friendly and helpful, making sure he spends time with our staff so that he knows about any changes in our needs. He is passionate about his job and takes pride in ensuring things are done properly.”

Chris Bailey from busy tourist attraction Bowland Wild Boar Park says: “When you’re working in such a busy environment, you need a partner you can trust, who has the same attention to fine detail, and who cares as much as you do. This is where AM services Group ticks the boxes.”
