Employee of the Month – integration is key for leader Paul Cook

Problem solving skills & organised approach shines through!

Employee of the month – Paul Cook – Hillstreet Shopping Centre

Upon stepping up to Security Manager, Paul has really stepped up to his role and responsibilities. Taking over a team is never easy however Paul has integrated himself with his colleagues in cleaning and our client’s team.

He really has taken leadership of all aspects of his role and has taken a very proactive approach whilst being able to react to things outside his usual role. He has been able to step in to a new role and seemingly set a standard that exceeds expectation through really leading by example.

Throughout May & June Paul has ensured all holidays that were planned were covered, something which sounds more straightforward than it proved to be. In the absence of the planned relief who was reassigned to assist a neighbouring site in a time of need, Paul rallied his team and ensured that the high level of service to our client was maintained. Without Paul’s mature and level-headed resolve, both I and the team would have been in a difficult place.

He put everyone’s interest ahead of his own and covered a solid run of duties to ensure his team had their down time. This was on top of being able to train new staff and ensure they are operating at the expected standards. He did this seamlessly and without fault.

Since taking over the role of Security Supervisor in March Paul has made it a smooth transition for all of us here at Hillstreet. He has recruited and trained a new guard to our standard assisting her in developing into the new role after she had been out of work for a long time.
In terms of the existing team he has supported them through integration of the car park team into the security function and they now work much more as one team. Paul has also worked extremely closely with the Housekeeping Supervisor to further support the covering of car park shifts after numbers were reduced and efficiencies made after a member of the car park staff retired.

Paul has a problem-solving approach and nothing is too much trouble for him, regularly going out of his way to support his team and the other onsite staff. His commitment to Hillstreet is second-to-none and he regularly exceeds our expectations as a management team.
