We care for our customers, service and our team

We’d like to share some good news with you which has a happy ending and an important message for all of us about looking out for each other and keeping safe on the road!

Last November, one of our Specialist Technicians Jon Tomkinson was heading home on his motorcycle after work when a car pulled out in front of him causing a serious accident. The impact left Jon badly injured with internal injuries and broken bones. A stay in hospital of several days, which needed to be followed up with extensive physiotherapy and medical check-ups, meant that it was some time before he was likely to be able to return to his usual road crew role. As a very hard worker and very valued member of the AM Services Group team, we wanted to support Jon by offering him alternative work while he was incapacitated. We therefore utilised John’s previous call centre experience, by giving him a temporary desk-based role getting in touch with old customers about their current needs.

Caring for people is also important when we’re out on the roads. And, learning from Jon’s experience and the 1,792 reported fatalities on UK roads in 2016, the highest level since 2011, we’d like to encourage everyone to stay safe on the roads generally but also to THINK! Roadsafety. Bikers are 55 times more likely to be killed or seriously injured than car drivers and 30 bikers a day are killed or injured at junctions on GB Roads. Car drivers and motorcyclists, please take time to THINK, and refresh with some road safety tips.

At AM Services Group, we care for our customers, service and people. And the other good news is that Jon is getting better by the day and is now enjoying carrying out appropriate, light duties for our valued clients.
